Every significant move of God in scripture begins with a spoken word. (See Genesis chapter 1) God spoke, and His words brought all things into existence.

God made us in His image and in His likeness (Genesis 1:26). That means we should act like He does and do the things that He does or did. When Jesus came to the earth to redeem Man, He took back our authority from Satan and restored it back to those who are children of God. Luke 10:19 states;

19 Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you.

God’s Word has its own power because He put it into His Word. It will do whatever He determined it should do. Isaiah 55:10-11:

10 “For as the rain comes down, and the snow from heaven, and do not return there, but water the earth, and make it bring forth and bud, that it may give seed to the sower and bread to the eater, 11 So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth; It shall not return to Me void, but it shall accomplish what I please, and it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it.”

Authority is expressed through speech. A king rules his country through decrees, not by intentions. The king speaks, and that becomes the law of the land. The book of Revelation tells us we, through Jesus, have been made kings and priests. That means what we say should become the law of our area of dominion. Revelation 1:5,6;

5 and from Jesus Christ, the faithful witness, the firstborn from the dead, and the ruler over the kings of the earth.

To Him who loved us and washed us from our sins in His own blood, 6 and has made us kings and priests to His God and Father, to Him be glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen.

We need to be very cognizant of everything we say. Our own words can become snares that cause us to fall into the traps of Satan. That is why we must make sure our words line up with God's words.

The Bible tells us in Hebrews 4:12 a bit about the Word of God.

For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

This passage tells us that the Word of God looks inward to uncover everything within your being. This is because Jesus is the Word and since He is part of the triune Godhead, He is all-knowing. The Gospel of John states this at its outset.

John 1:1; In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was in the beginning with God. 3 All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made.

If we align our words with God's words, when we speak God’s Word, the Scriptures, we are releasing divine truth into the natural environment that also has implications in the spiritual environment.

The Spirit of God empowers us to speak His Word with the same authority that He has. The spoken Word of God releases authority and instills boldness in us, which drives fear out of our situation. The believer who understands this becomes unstoppable.

These are three important truths about the Word of God.

The Word of God becomes a shield to protect us when confessed!

The Word of God becomes a sword to wield when declared!

The Word of God becomes authority when declared by us!

Amen! This is such a powerful reminder of the authority we have through Christ. God’s Word is not empty; it carries His purpose and power. We need to be intentional about speaking words that agree with Scripture. May our words always bring faith, hope, and life.

What we speak should be rooted in what God has already spoken. When we align our words with Scripture, we are reminded of His promises and encouraged to stand firm in faith. Amen!

This really encouraged me today. God’s Word gives us something solid to stand on regardless of what we are facing. Our circumstances may change, but His Word remains faithful. May we continually speak and live according to His truth.

This is such an important teaching about walking in the authority Christ has given us. Our authority should always be exercised in agreement with God’s Word. We cannot separate biblical authority from obedience to God. May the Holy Spirit help us speak with wisdom, faith, and boldness.

I am reminded that speaking God’s Word requires knowing God’s Word. We cannot faithfully declare what we have never taken time to understand.
