That may be a tough question to answer depending on how you view God. If He is being held at more than armโs length because you fear that He will not accept you, then you may not be comfortable calling Him friend. Let's start with understanding what a friend is. Noah Webster's 1828 dictionary defines a friend as this - One who is attached to another by affection; one who entertains for another sentiments of esteem, respect and affection, which lead him to desire his company, and to seek to promote his happiness and prosperity; opposed to foe or enemy.

Are you attached to God by affection? Do you desire His company? Do you think that He would desire your company?

Proverbs 17:17 says that a friend loves at ๐๐ฅ๐ฅ times, not just the good times. Perhaps a close examination of your heart is in order to determine if you are endeavoring to fulfill the definition of a friend. James 2:23 says that Abraham believed God, and he was called a friend of God.

So, when you read a passage of scripture that says "my God shall supply ๐๐ฅ๐ฅ ๐ฒ๐จ๐ฎ๐ซ ๐ง๐๐๐ according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus," are you believing it? Do you act like you believe it? If a close earthly friend tells you that he will come to your aid and assist you with fixing your car, if you believe him, you prepare for his arrival so that you both can work on it. When the Word says that God will do something for you, are you preparing yourself to receive that something?

Ecclesiastes 4:12 says that though one may be overpowered by another, two can withstand them. A true friend will not stand by and let someone harm you without stepping up to your side and helping you.
ย
God wants to be your friend. He wants you to believe Him when He says that He will take care of you and meet your every need and grant you all that your heart desires. Study His Word, the Bible and learn to trust Him.

He will become your greatest friend, EVER!
