Are You A Super-Hero?

Children are looking for super heroes, someone that they can look up to and emulate. They will ultimately choose a person that they think has it together. They are looking for someone that can overcome any obstacle and comes out on top. The first introduction to the role that fills those requirements is usually someone that spends a lot of time with them. A person that listens to them, plays with them, someone that spends quality time doing things just to be with them. That person is usually dad, sometimes it can be grandpa or a close uncle but it generally is a male figure. Don't get me wrong, there is nothing wrong with the females, they are just designed to be nurturing. They are the ones that make the hurt go away. That is huge so don't ever discount the power that women have with children.

But a super hero has strength that can move anything that is blocking the way. It doesn't have to be an object; it could be whatever is causing fear to that child. They are the ones that chase off the scary things that hide in the dark. They are the ones that open the jar that no one else seems to be able to budge. A super hero is rough and tumble and isn't afraid to pick up frogs, or worm a hook. That is the guy that goes on a mission to rid the land of pirates or any other bad guy and shows the little ones how to do it. They are the inspiration that breathes life into the imagination of those little boys and girls and helps them believe that they can do anything, that nothing is impossible for them to achieve.

Guys, go be a super hero to a child. Jesus spoke in Matthew 18 and said that to enter into the kingdom of heaven, we must be like little children. Be innocent, be trusting, be an example to them. Be the one that shows them the right way to do things. If you don't, there is a super villain out there waiting for his chance to convert the young impressionable minds of our little ones.

Do not think that because you don't have a child of your own that you are relieved of this duty. You are an influence to every small child for those little eyes are watching, looking for a spark of hope that they can connect with someone that is willing to be a super hero to them.
